A Century of USC Hockey Excellence and Resilience

For nearly a century, the Trojans Hockey Club has been committed to proudly representing the University of Southern California in collegiate hockey. As a student-run organization, our enduring mission is to nurture a supportive, competitive environment that promotes skill development and bolsters the love for hockey amongst our players. As ambassadors of this sport, we endeavor to expand its reach and deepen its influence within our community and beyond, contributing to USC's rich athletic legacy.

As members of the PAC-8 conference, we've seen dynasties like the Trojans' ten championships, the most in the PAC-8. We've dominated the rivalry with UCLA, winning 17 out of 23 Crosstown Cups. Our team has also played internationally, being the first American collegiate team to visit and play against China, while also having played exhibition games in Japan, Italy, and Iceland.

In recent years following the pandemic, our team has demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination, culminating in a PAC-8 playoff appearance last February. Despite these successes, we face financial challenges due to limited school funding leading the team to resort to high player dues to cover expenses like ice time, equipment, and travel expenses. This financial strain makes it harder to foster a successful program. As a result, we heavily depend on generous donations from individuals like you to help make hockey accessible and affordable for our players.

Meet Our Players

Heath Chancey

B.S. Art, Tech, and Business - 2025

This group of guys is like a second family to me. They have been there to celebrate our successes and have viewed any failure as an opportunity for growth. I can't thank them enough for their support, both as a teammate and a friend.

Miles Salzgeber

B.S. Cinema Studies - 2024

Stepping onto the ice for the team, I feel a powerful sense of purpose and tradition. Being on this team is so much more than just playing hockey. It's about being part of a legacy of excellence, a community that pushes for more - and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Akili Tulloch

B.S. Biology - 2026

The team is important to me not only because I love playing hockey, but also because, when I joined, I could tell there were teammates who truly cared about our growth and progress. I wanted to be a part of an organization that is always looking for ways to improve.

Unlocking Potential:
The Key Role of Your Support in USC Hockey

Our team operates on an annual budget exceeding $100k. As the majority of our budget is distributed among 25 members, this can lead to high dues that discourage talented individuals from participating. In short, your donation keeps hockey accessible.

OUR BUDGET

❄️ Ice Time (38%)

With no convenient ice facilities on USC's campus, we have to rent ice time and additional facilities for practices and games. For context, a single 2-hour practice session can cost over $500. Considering the length of our season from September through February, ice time makes up the largest chunk of our $100,000 budget.

  • A donation of $600 covers the cost of one practice.

🏒 Equipment (17%)

Team members are responsible for their own equipment, much of which is not covered by the team dues. Not only is it our highest priority to ensure our athletes have safe gear, but it is also our responsibility to have the best-looking team in the league.

  • A donation of $150 covers one player’s equipment.

✈️ Travel (37%)

The Trojans compete against teams from states such as Washington, Utah, and Arizona. This necessitates significant travel expenses, including airfare, ground transportation, food, and hotel accommodations for our 20 skaters and coaches roster.

  • A donation of $350 pays for one round trip ticket.

💰 League Fees + Misc. (8%)

While they make up a small percentage of the total budget, league fees are mandatory for all participating ACHA programs.
